Scholarship Programs

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is a national service organization which was founded at Howard University located in Washington, D.C. in 1908.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s mission is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “Service to All Mankind.”

The local chapter, Nu Psi Omega was chartered in 1981. Nu Psi Omega will present scholarship awards to two graduating African American high school seniors who exemplify good academic/moral character and community involvement.
Through our local Scholarship Program, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., will improve the trajectory of the lives of talented young people by increasing their potential for success and laying the foundation for positive, productive, and fulfilling lives.
